The process
How a photo becomes a product
Three steps. We look at your photo before anything is printed and only email you if it needs replacing — otherwise it goes straight into production.
1. Upload your dog's photo
Pick a product, upload one clear photo of your dog and add a name if you want one. See which photo works best.
2. We check the photo and prepare the artwork
We look at every photo before it goes to print. If it is too small, too dark or too blurry to print well, we email you and ask for another one first.
3. We print and ship
Your product is printed from your photo and shipped with USPS tracking. Production takes 2-3 business days, then 3-5 business days in transit inside the US.

Why portraits are the least forgiving thing we print
Every other product shrinks your photo. A portrait enlarges it, and enlargement is where a file runs out of information.
Scale exposes the file
A photo has a fixed amount of detail in it. Printed on a sock that detail is more than enough; printed as wall art the same file is being asked to fill many times the area. Nothing in the process adds detail that was never captured.
Eye level changes the portrait
A photo taken standing over a dog gives you a portrait of the top of a head. Crouching to the dog’s eye level is the single free change that most improves a portrait, and it costs one more attempt on the same afternoon.
Two dogs is a layout problem, not a photo problem
One photo of both dogs together is the simplest route. Two separate photos also work, as long as the light in them is similar — one dog shot in daylight next to one shot under a yellow bulb reads as a collage, not a portrait.
Which photo to use
What makes a photo print well
- Good, even light — daylight works best; avoid harsh shadows and backlighting.
- Sharp focus on the face — you should be able to see individual fur detail.
- The whole head in frame — ears, top of the head and chin, nothing cropped off.
- The biggest version of the file you have — send the original, not a screenshot or a photo re-saved from a chat app.
- One dog per photo, unless the product has a multi-dog option.
- You own the photo, or you have permission to use it.

Dog Portrait Guides: common questions
What resolution does a dog portrait need?
Send the largest version of the file you have and let us judge it. An original camera-roll photo is almost always enough; a screenshot of that same photo, or a copy that came through a chat app, usually is not. We check every file before printing and email you if it will not hold up.
Can I get two dogs in one portrait?
Yes — see the two-dog portrait guide for the layouts and the photo combinations that work. The multi-dog range covers the products built for it.
What if the only photo I have is old or low quality?
Send it anyway and we will tell you honestly what it can carry. Sometimes the answer is a smaller product rather than a large portrait — a mug or an ornament asks far less of a file than wall art does.
What happens between me ordering and you printing?
We check the file ourselves. If it will hold up at the size you chose it goes straight into production; if it will not, we email you and ask for another one. Nothing is printed until that is settled.
How long does a portrait take to arrive?
2–3 business days to make it, then 3–5 business days in transit with USPS tracking, inside the US. Shipping is $5.99 flat and free on orders of $79 or more.
